BMAT Maths Question Help

Can anyone give me the answer to this question as well as their full working out so I can make sense of it all? Don't guide me through the question I think I'll be able to figure it out by following through from someone else's method. I do have some sort of an idea of how some of the calculations and equations are done and used but just not completely.

Thank you.
number day 2=2 × number day 1
money day 1= number day 1×12
money day2 = 2 × number day 1 × 9
money day 2= money day 1 + 342

therefore

18× number day 1=12 × number day 1 +342
6 × number day 1 = 342
number day 1=57

57+57×2=171
