Face it, you're never gonna get anybody decent playing Durham because Newcastle is only 15 minutes away on the train and has a MUCH bigger potential audience and much better venues. The DJs on the middle floor of revolver at least attempt to mix songs together, but we did notice that for a large chunk of the night they were just playing a 2manydjs CD which we were really not impressed with. If you're gonna do a job as a DJ then at least don't take the credit for other people's work.
I really wish the DJs at hound would try some new music like the DJs downstairs at Revolver have done (at least they've got a somewhat wider range of music than bloody Studio Tuesdays). OK, so you might get them playing some music that the crowd doesn't like, but who cares? As they say, variety is the spice of life...

I think I must be too drunk in planet to notice this mixing business.

Exactly. Everywhere in Durham relies on the fact that their clientele will be to ratarsed to notice that they're sh*t. At least DSU should try something different, but since they're like fifty million quid in debt, they won't do anything financially risky. As Hound sells out every week they've got no motivation to change anything.

Seriously, why do people on this forum always that they are correct?! They're called opinions people, and there's no need to slag each other's off!!

Because we're cantankerous, jaded cynics?

I'd rather people put their opinions across and we can have a nice discussion about it than people just sit and go "Stop arguing!" :p: hehe

......we're adults, if anyone's going to take anything personal from what I say then that's their choice.

I'm not going to turn around and "fall out" with anyone on TSR because they don't like my opinion or I don't like theirs....lol I'm not an 8yr old in a playground

I enjoyed Revolver last term, I also enjoyed the mixing in the Vane Tempest but then I don't own any 2manydjs CDs, which I know is wrong because I do love them and I do love it when they're Soulwax too....

For me, the music is **** at Hound, I know it won't improve and remarkably I do not actually have to be off my face to enjoy it. What makes me enjoy Hound is the company I'm with. Yes we are dancing to rubbish, but we're dancing to it together, laughing and smiling.

Well, I'd rather have an opinionated discussion with an 8yr old than a university-aged person who doesn't show an opinion

Opinionated people are interesting

There is a music room in most colleges I think....

There is a music room in Hatfield which although not very well soundproofed is better than the Aidan's one which is in or near to the ghetto that is A Extension and right next to someone's room!!

So therefore, on music rooms, Hatfield is better than Aidans.

Its right at the begininng of A Straight, opposite the gym, and right next to room A1. My mate had that room in first year, my god was it hard to revise in that room sometimes. But you're only allowed to play amplified music at certain times. ALthough you can hear EVERYTHING through that wall.

Yeah, the reason you were loving the mixing is that 2manydjs were doing it! Very unimpressed by the "dj" doing that. It may only be a DSU ent, but if you're paying for entertainment (which thinking about it, I wasn't as I got in free each week), I think that you should get slightly more than "CD played really loudly".

Yeah, fair point, it is the people you spend time with that makes a night out anywhere (commercial) in Durham good, as opposed to the surroundings.

I said opinions are good....what you're doing isn't being opinionated but imposing your view on everyone else and insisting that it's right. Bad father.....
