Myths in football...

Articles of faith which are repeated unthinkingly without any reference to actual football? Just a call out thread for all these things people repeat.

-Jose is charismatic. Why?
-Balotelli takes the chances he gets
-Balotelli is more of a big game player
-Scholes was more effective than Keane
-Crouch has got a good touch for a big man, he has an average touch simple as that.
-'Ambition' means having a billionsare owner. Trying to build up a club over the generations and with your own resources is lack of ambition.
-Vieira was a DM
-Bergkamp was a 10

Arsenal constantly get difficult CL groups.
Chelsea always get easy CL groups (relative to Arsenal more specifically).
Messi/Ronaldo needs to win a World Cup to be considered an all-time great.
Arsenal are a club who personify 'class'.

Good thread.

Roy Keane ended Haaland's career.

Homophobia is rife among match day support.

Anfield's deafening atmosphere on 'famous European nights'.

Celtic are cute and cuddly.

Pele scored 1,000+ career goals.

Decisions tend to even themselves out over the course of a season.

Gareth Bale became muscular in the summer of 2014.

Crouch has an average touch, which is good for a big man...

-Jose is charismatic. Why?

Charisma means a compelling charm to someone. Someone who's charismatic is someone who's well appreciated. In general, people appreciate Jose and his drama and his bull****, so that's not a myth.

... hell of a lot faster than Spain, Italy or France. And it's said people who play in the league for the first time, more than anyone else.

Got no idea where this has come from, until last year Arsenal always had piss easy groups?

Don't forget their FA Cup draws. No wonder they won so many when they had a free pass to the semis every year.

I think you'll find it is pal. It's as crap as it is everywhere else if not worse because of the day trippers.

First game back in the big time after five years out you'd think it'd be rocking. Media exciting themselves with the 'famous European nights' back at Anfield. I pointed it out in the Liverpool thread at the time how abysmal it was. I wasn't the only one who noticed it.

Just because they hold their scarves up and sing their anthem before the match (then nothing for 90 minutes) doesn't mean this deafening atmosphere isn't a myth.
A team is most vulnerable when they have just scored.

Everyone loves Ireland and Celtic (sorry, Zurich).

Good thread btw.

Liverpool fans are "knowledgeable"

Daniel Levy has any purpose whatsoever.
That if you support Arsenal or Liverpool you're not a Gloryhunter because they haven't won much in the last decade. Sorry, but Chelsea won more trophies than Liverpool in the 90's, and their fans who accuse Chelsea/City/United fans of being plastic are just bitter because they couldn't keep up.

That it was fate that Liverpool would win the league last year and justified because they scored lots of goals, and as the media portrayed at the time every neutral wanted to see them win. Sorry but they played almost 20 games less than Chelsea, 15 less than City all year and didnt have other competitions to focus on for most of the season.

Falcao is still a world class striker. Sorry, but he's a shadow of the player he was at Atletico and Porto, he'll struggle to hit double figures this season and if he does get more than 10 he'll get no more than 12 or 13.
Teams fear going to Old Trafford.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a great free kick taker.

Martin O'Neill is an excellent manager.

One match, against Ludogorets. It wasn't magnificent but it wasn't bad either, and two posts mean **** all. ONE MATCH.

Going against years of testimony from opposition players. Who were actually at the stadium, unlike you.
