Anyone know how stict they are on entry grades? Will they read my personal statement before dismissing me?

I know two girls that missed their offers and got in anyway. This was a while ago when the course was newer though.
They are usually pretty quick at replying. I only waited a few weeks, they were the first place to get back to me.
