Digital Millenium Copyright Act,

Hi people.
I am looking to find educational sources of information in regards to the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. From what I was able to find out, that specific Act is actually an American Act that has been later amended and follows the World Intellectual Property Organisation proposals. However, the more I delved into this act (with the likes of Google Scholar, media sites and so on) the more I found this act may be a rather contentious act, possibly due to the countries that are represented within the World Intellectual Property Organisation, are allegedly promoting the self-interest of business primarily. I vaguely remembering a group of businesses and organisations recently were campaigning for an overhaul of the patents acts, although I am not sure if this latter statement is relevant to the above.
My questions are:
What relevance does the Digital Millenium Copyright Act have upon United Kingdom business? Is this act written into UK law and if it isn't how is it enforced within the UK?
