Book's correct.

How did you arrive at your answer? Some working please.

I used p=1.5, not sure why!
I'm just a little stumped on what to do with the 1/6 as it's not in any of the tables

You'll have to go back to the definition of the binomial, and work out P(X=0) and P(X=1) from scratch. It's not that hard.

q12+12pq11q^{12}+12pq^{11}, with, hopefully, the obvious meanings.

Hi again, thank you, that worked! Could you possibly see where I've gone wrong here? I've gone wrong somewhere.
For b)P(X<3) i do p(X=0,1,2) and add them up to get 0.799

I'm getting "invalid attachment" for the first two of those.

So, probability is 1- P(X=0) - P(X=1), which you had.

But P(X=0) = q^8, whereas you have 1/6 for some reason.
