Lost a lot of weight recently, without trying to. I'm getting worried.

Hi, just some basic information (might be useful); I'm female, 17 years old and 5ft 6. Tuesday last week, I went to the doctors about having musclular/joint/general pain all over my body (mainly in legs, back, neck and arms). He weighed me and I weighed 8st 1lb, I think, it was definitly around the 8st mark and when I weighed myself around 3 days before that I was 8st 2lb. He has sent me to go get blood tests which I will be doing either tomorrow or sometime next week.

I just weighed myself now and I weigh 7st 2lb. This has shocked me a lot. Either my scales are very broken or I've lost around a stone in 2 weeks. I don't exercise other than walking to the bus stop everyday. I eat okay, I wouldn't say I ate 3 meals a day and I don't eat much (just because I don't get hungry).

I'm a bit worried. What kind of things would cause me to loose a lot of weight so quickly? I wouldn't have thought my eating would cause it, since I do eat and I eat regulaly - just not a lot and not like 3 main meals a day (kind of like a sandwich here and there and such).

Except from eating a lot more, what can I do to regain some weight (and also despite losing weight, I don't really look like I have - I look average and healthy, I think).

See a doctor. Sudden changes in weight like that *can* mean underlying problems.

We're you using the scales properly? As in you must take the reading at roughly the same time each day, before meals, and after you've been to the toilet (in both ways for obvious reasons).

Better consult with a doctor to know the exact answer for this question.

Remember, the problem is to be solved from the starting stage itself, else it may lead you to various health issues in the future.
in my opinion the likelihood is that part of the weight difference will be a combination of differently calibrated scales, what you were wearing and what you'd eaten/when you'd gone to the loo and normal daily variation and the other part is probably weight loss if you're eating under 2000 cals a day which it sounds like you are?

gaining weight back isn't complicated you need to eat more

if you keep losing weight you should go and see your doctor as there could be a serious reason

You should see a doctor. It could be the scales but in Biology we spoke about losing weight without trying to can be a sign of underlying conditions, even more serious ones such as cancer. I'm sure you don't have anything as serious as cancer but its always in your best interests to make sure.

Yes exactly, sudden changes in body, is because of some problems in your body. It is better to consult with specialist for this problem.
I would go and see a doctor. Something does not sound right there....better to be on the safe side and do that, and then you will get your answers I think.
