Chances of getting an offer from LSE & UCL

Hi. I am an international student, studying economics at the university of Bristol.
I am in the process of applying for master's degree at LSE and UCL to study Political Economy or Comparative Economic Policy.

I have achieved 59% in my second year and am predicted to get 2:1.
I was wondering if I have chances of receiving a conditional offer from LSE & UCL with:

2:2(59%) in second year + strong reference & personal statement + excellent extra-curricular activities?

Thank you
My roommate from last year did her undergrad at Uni of Nottingham Ningbo in finance, and she graduated with a high 2:1 and still didn't get into either LSE or UCL. Not sure about the other aspects of her application though since she was rather upset about not getting into either of these and wasn't happy with the school she eventually ended up going to. Also, I think it's rather vague when you say "excellent extra-curricular activities" so can't help you with that either.

Sorry if this wasn't that helpful. You'd probably have a chance with some of the other Russell universities I think but the ones you mentioned might be a bit of a stretch.

. For political economy it may be possible, what are the entrance requirements. I think a 2:1 is still feasible for you so you may be eligible. Also you might want to consider the tuition fees for these London courses.

Extra-curriculars have vey little impact on a postgrad application in the UK unless they're directly relevant things like work experience in your specialism. The focus of your PS needs to be on why you're the right person for that particular course at that specific uni. In the UK, the uni is interested in your academic ability, not the type of person you are.

A low 2:1 is going to have to be backed up by top notch references (UK postgrads usually require two) to give you a fighting chance. A 2:2 in your second year doesn't sound hopeful for UCL or LSE. Not saying it's impossible but it would be good to have a Plan B of other decent unis as well.

Hi!

I got 60% in my second year and got offers from both UCL and LSE. At the moment I'm studying Political Economy at LSE. I waited till January to apply once I got my results from the January exams, which were a lot higher than my average. I would def give it a chance

Good luck

Thank you guys for all the helpful comments.
Both LSE and UCL stated that they require at least 2:1 on their website and that is why made me decided to give a shot.
Waiting for some results from January exams sounds clever as long as it can improve your grade.

Thanks all!

Hi!

I am considering applying to IPE at LSE and would be curious to know how you're finding it so far?

In terms of background, I did my undergrad in journalism (graduated with a 1st) and am currently interning at an international news organisation in their business department. Do you think I stand a chance? I understand most IPE students have done a first degree in economics or politics... Is that the case for all of you though? Any advices/recommendations would be appreciated!

Thank you

Congrats! I'm planning to apply to UCL and LSE next year for an MSc. Do you reckon it would be possible to get an offer if I achieve 65% in my second year coupled with meeting the other criteria?

Also, how does the offer work? Do they simply say that the place is conditional on obtaining a 2.1, or do they specify a percentage?
