No huge shocks there.

You're rejected unless you're doing the right subjects at school. Your predicted grades and reference are important but unis know that they are uncertain and that schools can get it wrong.

Your PS explains why you want to do the course, whether you've done subject-related extra-curriculars and doing something exceptional, original or unusual will give you an edge. You shouldn't fib in a PS. The PS is critical, especially for over-subscribed courses. If all you talk about in the PS is what you've done at school, you won't stand out enough. You need to be interested or involved in something outside your subject. Grammar and spelling are crucial - get it proof-read by someone else.

The kind of school you went to is considered e.g. a B grade from a generally poorly performing school, will be recognised.

Applications will be looked at by typically half a dozen people at uni. All will be treated equally.

It's pretty much outlining what I would hope every uni does with UCAS applications.
