17 year old in university accommodation?

hey,

I'm applying to university this year and it is a year early so I'll only be 17 when I enter (I'm 16 until March). However, I was lucky enough to achieve really good grades last year and I've been told that I am quite likely to get a place. So if this hopefully turns out well then I'm left with the decision of whether or not to move out (the uni is in my home town). I'd be going a year early so none of my friends would be with me but we've been growing apart a lot lately so it isn't too big of an issue. But ultimately. Here's what I'm trying to say:

1. My family situation is currently horrible. My parents are separated and don't get on well but for some crazy reason they're still living together. I hate it and don't like being at home with them and I don't get on well with my dad.
2. Money thankfully is not an issue if I want to move out.
3. I want to do an exchange in my 2nd year and I am worried that I won't study enough to get the grades to go abroad if I stay in halls.
4. I'm worried I won't be able to make friends with the other students because I will be so young.
5. I would never be allowed to go out and enjoy student life after 11pm/midnight because my parents are strict on my curfew if I stay at home.

Should I go? I want to move out but I am scared that I will not be able to truly enjoy my first year since I am 17. Sorry that this is so long!

I'm struggling to understand the gist of your problem...

If you think things will be different because you'll start uni at 17 then you're wrong. A lot of my classmates are 17 in uni so it's not really an issue

The conditions for when I studied abroad was simply that I passed first year, which isn't hard. I find working in my room (especially when I was in halls) way easier than at home or even the library because you can shut yourself off from distractions. At home you have a multitude of things to distract you and you can't really get comfy in the library (this is me personally, I like to chill out when I work).

I would be friends with a 17 year old. No one's going to know until you tell them.

If you went to university all the bars will require you to be 18+ so I don't see why you're concerned...
I think moving out sounds like a good idea for you.

You'll miss out in some respects from a socialising point of view as you wont be able to go on the club nights out however I think you will actually mix easier by being in halls than being out of halls (if that makes sense). Not everyone wants to go out every night and the relentless nights out do die down within the first month

With regards to studying you will actually have some decent quiet time to study in halls if you cant go on the big nights out until March and if you really want to go abroad you will manage to get the studying done.

Your only a matter of months younger than other students you will be living and studying with so dont worry too much about that.
You'll have no problem, I have a few people on my course that are 17  Honestly... I don't age is even a factor, you'll be with people of a variety of ages and wont be treated differently. I'm 18 and actually one of the youngest on my course  a lot are in their 20s.

The only thing you'd possibly have issues with is getting in to bars.
