What to observe/learn whilst shadowing a GP??

Hello everyone

I am shadowing my GP tomorrow, but I don't really know what exactly I should observe or learn from that?? Please can anyone give me some advices??? thanks a lot :smile::h:

Well, why are you doing it? If you have an answer for that which isn't "because my career adviser told me to" then you'll probably have an idea of what you should be looking for and thinking about.
Look at how the doctor interacts with his patients and how the patients interact with the doctor. Look at the rest of the practice and see how it runs, and how everybody contributes to how it runs!

Communication is a skill many GPs excel at. Study how they take a medical history, use of open/closed questions, silence, how long they let the patient talk for before they say a word, body language, how they've set their room up.
Study how the GP varies their consultation style to suit the patient, more formal with some, more relaxed with others. Its actually fascinating if you can find a great GP to watch!
