A2 Film Studies Coursework

So for my film coursework I have to create a 3-5 minute short film or extract and I am completely stuck for ideas!
Any basic ideas would be helpful that I can expand on!

Have you been given any more guidance than that?

I would think about a character that was really interesting, and then come up with a way to tell their story in 3-5 minutes.
I don't do Film Studies, but I've read a couple of specs and they ask you to write an essay and base your extract on said essay - have you had to do this? In which case, what was your essay on?
