How am i supposed to get an a?

Hi,

so i'm currently in year 12 and just started AS Levels, my teacher said that by learning to revision guide you will not get an A at the end. I understand that you have to apply that knowledge, but isn't it the same as GCSE? because we still had to explain answers and stuff. I'm confused like how am i supposed to get an A at the end?
I think she means you need to really understand the topics rather than just regurgitating the textbook.

I revised using only the revision guide and got C in unit 1, D in unit 2 and a B in ISA. Use the textbook as well as the revision guide and google a lot of facts... I need to get mine up to a B overall and i'm at a C, it's not an easy topic!
