Stuck between Law and Criminology

I'm studying Criminology at Kingston university (first year). I would like to join the legal profession after I graduate. There are two ways for me to enter this career.

1. Finish off criminology and do the GDL or CPE course.
2. Just count this year as nothing and enrol on a LLB next year.

My question is that would employers take the GDL/CPE route seriously. I know a LLB would always be one step ahead, but if I carry on with criminology and finish off the one year course (GDL/CPE) would it still look good on my application form to join a solicitor firm.

Thanks.
You will be fine with the gdl - something like roughly half of new solicitors have non-law degrees and thus do the gdl.

The GDL is definitely taken seriously, don't worry. The only downside to doing your degree first and then the GDL is that of course you have to pay fo an extra year of study.
