English Literature, Creative Writing Talks/Courses

Hello all, just wondering does anyone know of any Eng Lit slash creative based writing based courses in the UK? (preferrably London and in the summer, though any other recommendations would be great too!)
Hello!

I am an English student and can recommend the University of Reading.

There isn't a joint honours with English Literature and Creative Writing, but you can take a Creative Writing Pathway at the university which ensures that you study modules within this area each year and allows you to do a creative writing piece for your dissertation. The English department at uni is great and they are really supportive. The selection of modules that you can choose from is huge. When you get to third year there are 40 modules to pick from, so it is very difficult choosing! There are so many ways to get involved in creative writing outside your studies at the university- competitions come up from time to time as well as literary festivals where you can join and even an annual anthology you can contribute to. For more information check this link to Creative Writing at the university:

As for the university itself, it is 30 minutes away from London by train on a lovely green campus. It's great to be in an enclosed student environment, but at the same time there are lots of things to do at uni and in the town. There is a huge selection of societies you can join from poker, anime, hockey, photography, Harry Potter etc. For the full list click on this link- http://www.rusu.co.uk/activities/ . The student union runs two club nights weekly which are the biggest nights out in Reading as well as weekly comedy nights, pub quiz and karaoke. The town has a big shopping centre, cinema and lots of restaurants especially on the riverside which is a nice place to go to. There are also quite a few clubs, bars and cafes where regular events happen such as live music, pub quizzes etc.

If you would like to visit the university our next open day will be next year, but campus tours run regularly so do get in touch!

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
