I'm new to windows - I've been using it for about a week on a partition on my iMac. I'm installing some software and Ive been asked to "create C:\TEMP\ directory and set global users environmental variables TEMP and TMP to the folder I created. Which I have no idea how to do, so please can someone help me?

Can I ask what software is asking this? Sounds like a bad idea.

There are already two temporary folders available by default, the one in your user profile "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp" in Windows 7 and Later and the one in "C:\Windows\Temp".

If you want to verify (or change) this, right click My Computer/This PC in explorer, Properties > Advanced System Settings > Environmental Settings.

The User variables take precedence over your System variables if something exists in both places. User variables are not used if something is run as an administrator.
