If you're interested it helps. You can do well without being that interested in it though, just put the work in.
I was never interested, but I got A, just wondered if others have no interest in what they are researching when 'you are supposed to have.' All dissertation topics were boring as hell to me, and as I'm starting MSc they as are as boring/unimportant as they always were if not moreso.

I was somewhat interested. I think it was more of the case study than the theories involved.
