Writing style, what is it and how can I copy someone's writing style?

I'm doing physics but I'm doing a philosophy-esque physics module where I have an assignment that cares more about writing style and I'm having a difficult time understanding this concept of writing style. I've always been marked on my understanding of physics, which is why this assignment is quite surprising as it seems more like presentation is key to the best mark

I have to choose from a list of random topics and write it in the style of the "Lateral Thoughts" section or the "Forum" section of the Physics World magazine.

In case anyone was wondering, here are a few examples:

Lateral thoughts:

Looking at all of these, I don't see a writing style (don't quite fully understand what writing style is either). If I was given the same topics as these articles I would 'just write about them' and it would look no different to these examples. But I'm willing to bet that there is a giant difference between my articles and there's even if I can't see it

Can anyone help? My assumption is that there are particular qualities in these examples that define it's style (a list of them) and I just need to check each one off as I write mine. If I check them all off then I've copied their style correctly
Am I right?

I can't seem to open those documents but I'm guessing this relates to how you present the information at hand. if you're talking about writing style, I can only guess it's referring to how well your writing reads, the flow and how concise or complex it is in its vocabulary. There's a difference between writing so that people can understand you and being elegant in your writing.

if you want a better example of this, I suggest you read reviews from the music website sputnikmusic.com. You're able to read professional (staff) reviews and user reviews and you can really see the difference in its complexity and writing style in them.

If i'm wrong, sorry :colondollar:
