I'd firm it anyway (as I did), still have months left to decide about accommodation. If you didn't go to an open day and viewed the accommodation (or if you did but are still unsure), I'd book a place for one of the visit days for your course - they offer accommodation tours so you could go check them out if you haven't before or if you're still unsure.

Hi! I was just wondering, have you been to an open day yourself? If so, what did you think of the different halls/sites ?
Oadby or Mary Gee will be the best. All of them are very social with space (especially in Oadby with the halls each with their own bar) to socialise.

To me self-carted accommodation is the best you have more flexibility and choice over what you and when you eat although his may not suit some people therefore to them catered maybe a good option, but be aware you have to move everything out of your room each holiday when in catered whereas self-catered you can leave you stuff there. This is to do with the length of the contact self-catered 39 weeks catered 30 weeks. Also self-catered will probably work out cheaper.
The hall themselves in Oadby are very much hit and miss the down side of accommodation at Leicester. John foster hall and Bowder court in GMS are the newest and look the nicest offering a variety of room types also Digby Hall and Digby block have recently been refurbished so they may not look nice on the outside but inside they are great. I have no experience of the other rooms in the other halls, but bear in mind some are older houses and older style blocks that may not be as modern but at the end of the day its only for a year and it depends what you want. All the accommodation sites have their own bar so are good for socialising. There are two internet types standard and what is described as premium plus don’t know really of there is much difference between the two. Also an en-suite is a bonus if you want one for hand washing clothes etc. to save on washing costs although a shared bathroom is good practice for house sharing in the future where you will probably have to share a bathroom.
The city is self is very diverse meaning that you will never be bored there is also something to do and something going on. There are also a good variety of shops with a good variety of brands available and the buses to and from the city centre are very frequent as well.

Is anyone thinking of staying in city life accommodation instead of oadby? I can't be dealing with the trek to uni so opal court might have to be the one. I just don't want to be the only fresher there 
I have an offer from Leicester and I will defiantly be choosing opal as it is only 5 minutes away from the University.
I applied for 2015 and will be studying economics, what about you ??

I've been in Beaumont Hall this year which is catered and has a common area. It's very sociable.
All the Oadby halls have common areas.

I'm coming to Leicester September this year but I'm not entirely sure which accommodation I should go for... I went on a visit day but didn't get to see Beaumont but it does look like a nice hall! Would you recommend it or do you feel that you would have preferred to stay in one of the other halls?

John Foster was really nice and so was Digby but Digby is less social because it doesn't have the common room. GMS looked like prison blocks from the outside but inside it looks really nice
