I did biomed at university and I was offered a place for cardiac science and gastrointestinal physiology. Your degree will be applicable to any specialism you apply for. Just focus on talking about relevant modules.

Thank you! that has really put me at ease. I have a few questions for you if you dont mind  When you applied for those two specialisms (btw two is the max you can apply for right?) How separated were the specialisms in terms of the application and interview process? What I mean is, to what extent did you have to link the two if at all at any point during the process? (e.g. during interview and such)
Has anyone here had a summer internship related to science? If so what company was it with? because there isn't a lot. For those in London btw.

Hello Everyone,

I have applied for the STP 2015 and am long listed. I am in the same position as most of you, waiting for communication to say that I am short listed. I am literally checking Oriel every hour ish.

I have applied for the Genetics specialism and the Clinical Biochemistry. I am starting work experience in a hospital in the cardiology ward to gain more experience as I have none in healthcare. And I graduated from university 4 years ago with BSc Hons in Biological Sciences.

I am a Science teacher and have been teaching for 3 years and now this is my step to a career change. Has anyone else applied for genetics or clinical biochemistry?? :u::h:
Hi all,

I applied last year but failed at the interview stage. It's an incredibly gruelling process and the most disappointing if you fail at the last hurdle. Fingers crossed I get to the interview stage again this year.

I am working as an Audiologist at the moment and this program is perfect for career progression but highly competitive. There are only 22 posts for Audiology!!

Is anyone applying for Audiology in which locations / have any advice on how to prep for the interviews?

Thanks

I have applied for genetics. I have a human genetics degree and did my dissertation in an nhs genetics lab. I am currently doing a phd.

I don't think we'll hear anything til mid - late next week. They don't even finish deciding until tomorrow so definitely won't hear anything til then.

It's annoying waiting cause I'm certain I won't get an interview but I would rather just know so I can stop thinking about it hahaha!

I have applied for Audiology . I can't give any advice though as it's my first time applying. You probably can give better advice about the interview stage! I don't mind where I'm placed, I just want a place .
What is the interview stage like? Is it more based upon social cohesion rather than academic background/knowledge?

I feel as if in a field such as medical physics the range of specialisms is so broad that surely they cannot expect you to know everything about each field.

Im just very curious as what to expect for medical physics

Hey that's great to hear that you have good solid background in genetics. I am reading like crazy to prepare for the interview, but I just hope I get it first. What kind of topics in genetics do you think I should revise?

If 23 March is the interview for the Blood Sciences when they will start publishing the shortlists? 3 weeks left for preps and taking annual leave for the interview! Last few years Med Physics were the first for the interviews, its different this year?

If I am not wrong you are an in-service applicant. The status Applied states that your application is submitted. You should expect a status change and a message about the result of the test

That's right, any idea how long should I expect to wait for the results of the online tests?

If you are asking for a personal estimation, I think that there is a high propability for you to have an update during the upcoming week
