It is stoping because it has v=0 because it is changing firection

I got 81.5 because I used vsquare suvat equation

Then I got 0^2-40^2/2(-9.81)=81.5

I would've used the s=ut+1/2at²one but it looks OK. I can't see any problems:dontknow:

I'm doing AS Physics at the moment. You've definitely don't what I would've done, unfortunately I don't have time to do it myself right now. I'll do it tonight after college.

Though I can't see the value of initial velocity, using your value the answers look right to me as well. I'd consult your teacher if I were you.
