Whats the most stupid rule your school has?

my school had a strict policy against wearing coats/jackets unless we've reached ice age. they used to even confiscate it outside school gates, along with drinks (they used to wait next to shops so kids can come out with their sweets and drinks and get it confiscated.) no idea why people did as they said, i always refused and caused a fuss. it wasnt right.

Sounds like this happened outside of school. They actually tried to enforce rules outside of school grounds?

Sounds like your username would be a pretty accurate term to describe that.

Not sure if that is actually legal.

I wouldn't have thought so either. Outside school grounds and hours, the school is not responsible for you unless you're on a school trip or something. Therefore the school would have absolutely no right to enforce any of its rules for those on their way to and from school, like uniform rules as someone a few pages back mentioned.

At least that's how I think it works.

My school would put people in isolation for not having their planner, black school shoes and (luckily after I was safe in sixth form) a school branded coat. You weren't allowed to wear your own coat to school while I was in lower school. And now you HAVE to bring your coat to school between November -February or you'll get out in isolation for the whole day. One time I had to wear plimsolls to school because my school shoes had broken (crappy primark ones) and Id brought in a note for this, yet they STILL put me in isolation. Bloody bastards, I may as well have just stayed at home and missed the whole day.
If you take off your shoes you must put them in your bag
At one point there was a 'no hugging' rule. I remember when someone was upset but their friend wasn't allowed to hug them

I don't even know to be honest! It was ridiculous! But after a while when they realised few people were following the rule they dropped it

we were not allowed to leave out of the main door we had to use a side door
No running in the playground... it was a strict rule too.

6 bars on your tie. At one point the deputy head made an acrylic model of the ideal tie length and stopped students to measure to see if it met standard. Crazy.

No running on the playground was another delightful rule. "Hard standing area" they called it.

You're joking right? "Hard standing area"!
There was a thing in one of the primary schools I went to that basically said you had to eat your dinner or you'd have to stay behind to finish it. On this particular day I was ill. Some staff member tried to force me to eat something absolutely disgusting and wouldn't let me leave until I'd eaten it. I think it was some sort of vegetarian thing, but what happened was I ended up taking half an hour picking at it with my stomach actively trying to kill me, and then I threw up afterwards. Multiple times.

Thanks guys.

Same situation at my primary school. We are required to eat 80% of the lunchboxes. Before disposal, we have to show it to "food ambassadors". And we are not allowed to leave our seats (literally!) until the lunch break bell rings. When I was barely 6 and first year at school, I wasn't a big eater and my appetite was much like a 3 year-old. i couldn't finish most of the lunchbox and I ended up staying at the classroom without lunch break until I "reach the required standard". I threw up so badly that the teachers thought I ate something dirty. My mum wrote to the school and it took almost a week for the school to spare me from force-feeding program.

Looking back, this is totally stupid. I understand they do not want us to waste food but force-feeding does no good.

My school has a 'one way system' around the school. Apparently there is too much congestion during lesson changeover.:s-smilie:

It was stupid. I ended up resenting the school for it. After that I was deliberately a little **** 'cause it was a badly thought out system.

Food ambassadors...? I'm... not sure what to say about that.

Man, I hope you didn't end up throwing up the other days though. Some people just can't eat certain types of things or as much as other people. Glad to hear you got spared eventually.

Now that I think about it, I think it was a vegetarian burger... Whatever it was, it was revolting.

We had to have a certain amount of stripes on our ties. And our top buttons on our shirts had to be done up.

This sounds so much like my school!
