Sociology vs political science - differences

Hi TSR-members,

This year I will be graduating from vwo*, leaving me no other choice than to go to university. The only studies that interest me a lot, are sociology and political science.

However, I just cannot tell the differences between the studies. I have researched both studies a lot, but I just cannot see what the real difference is between the two studies.

I know for a fact that they both issue state related problems, like poverty and criminality. But what is the core difference? What is a typical question a sociologist has to answer, and what is a typical question for a poltical scientist?

A good analysis of the differences between PS and Sociology would be appreciated.

* = vwo is a Dutch educational level. It is simply the only educational level that allows a pupil to go to university. It is the equivalent of the British A(s)-level educational form.
i don't know about political science but sociology is generally about sociology and the interactions/behaviours of the wider society
