Free Periods

Last year - Sit in common room with books out so when the teacher came in it looked like I was doing work, when really we'd sit there watching Fail Army on laptops/interactive whiteboards.

This year - Spend them doing past papers. Because I have to resit exams. Because of messing around last year...

The one we have on Friday afternoon however (once a fortnight), is spent watching films and eating rubbish tbh
Work+Work+Work+Work=A+A+A+A
Homework
Going over previous work

Today I spent a double going over chemistry. I revise my topics on a regular basis so that by April im just going over what I know instead of trying to learn stuff and get stressed

i type up notes made in class in a more condensed form for revision, it's not like gcse's where you do all yo're revision at the start of easter, in year 12 i'm thoroughly learning as i go along )
I do a mixture of work and socialising, depending on who else is around and how much stuff I have to do at the time. It's really up to you though.
My frees are 50 minutes long, 2 are at the end of each day so I go home early, 2 are in the middle of the day so I go home and nap for 35 mins and every second Friday I have from 10:35 to 14:00 to go home, eat and nap. Time well spent as a 6th year student :P

In general, what do you people on TSR do with their free periods? Is it an accepted thing to socialise with mates or is the time to crack down and do some revision/homework?

Just a year 11 kid wondering.

I used to procrastinate, or use the time to do homework.

In year 13 my free periods were organised so that I had all Monday and all Thursday off. Both days I'd revise but on Thursdays I'd catch up with the latest Criminal Minds...
Last year I only really used them to do homework that was in for the lesson after. I used to sleep in/go home early if I had free periods first/last.

This year I try and spend all day in college because I think it's nicer to just stay in and relax with my friends. If I'm by myself I'll do work or go on Netflix. Most of the time I'm not alone and we just walk to Sainsbury's and waste our money on food.

My college has organised it so everybody has the afternoon off (4 hours) on a Wednesday. I usually just go home then, since nobody is in college anyway.

I wish I had a funny story to tell about something stupid I did in a free period, but unfortunately I don't..

How do you have frees in year 11... O.o

Anyway, most of the time I do work in mine (4 A2s + life = stress ) but occasionally I just do nothing and go and talk to friends etc.

Im in year 11 and i have frees because pretty much everyone in my psychology class dropped it at the start of the year because a couple of months into year 10 our psychology teacher disappeared... :dontknow:

Depends who also has a free. If I can't find anyone I go to the library to do homework or further reading/revision. If I happen to find a friend we sometimes do work or go to the canteen!

When I was in yr 11, my free was last on a friday, so you can imagine how much work would get done...

This year, I get one free period a day, and I mostly try to get homework done. There's a large group of us though, so we do tend to get a bit chatty.
I'm in yr12 and I've spent the last three?? ish months chilling in frees, going out to the shops and doing nothing but now I'm starting to use them for work and revision!! Hopefully I'll keep it up
If some of my friends have frees and I don't have any work to do, then i tend to hang out/chill, but if I have a free by myself I tend to do some homework/coursework or extra reading! It's super helpful if I can get an hour of work done in a free then that's an house less to do at home! Also if i have a free first period it's super chill to go into town, get a coffee, and do some work there, it's a lot more relaxing (and quite) than the library at college!
If I have work I'll usually do it, but most of the time I just chill and talk with friends .

How the hell do you have that many frees?

I dropped my 4th AS. Before that I had: 3, 3, 1, 4 and 3 hrs free respectively. That's just how my timetable turned out.
I had three frees in a row today and casually chugged through some physics.

In year 12 I used to piss around with friends which I regret to this day. Early year 13 I did the same thing until I realised I actually need to work this year so I spent most if my time completing coursework (I did Art and had deadlines around the same time so you can imagine how busy I was ).

It varies on the day, which lesson just followed and what the weathers like, heres my 'typical' breakdown.

Monday - One hour break - Eat lunch, chill with someone

Tuesday - Two hour break, eat lunch, go to the park and sit down

Wednesday - No break

Thursday - One hour, eat lunch

Friday - No break
