open university

Hi all - Would I be able to apply for financial help if studying an open uni course? Specifically a maintainance loan or grant. Or is student finance only available to students studying " on campus ". I am a ( in my fifties ) mature student, I have a mortgage to pay, and I`m on benefits. :frown:

You can get a tuition fee loan but you won't be entitled to any maintenance grants or loans because all OU courses are considered part-time and part-time students aren't eligible for maintenance loans at any university. Tuition fee loans don’t affect benefit entitlement so if you are getting by now, there's no reason why you wouldn't if you started an OU degree.
