It was on 3rd December asking us to complete an occupational health check form and a criminal declaration form. Have you got one yet? Maybe you've not firmly accepted your offer? I can't wait to get more details about the course though.

And it was before I uploaded all my certificates actually.

Hey Sara, not recieved anything yet. well I have not been able to affirm offer because the next steps for me on Ucas says wait til I ve heard from all unis(stil have interviews pending). Do I affirm my offer by withdrawing from all other unis then? Thanx

Hey Guys,

Hope your all doing well and yes I also recieved that email too, I will soon send off my occupational health hopefully by the end of this week or next.

Your welcome Sarah

Has anyone else found other people that will be starting in Feb cohort?

Florence x

Hey Florence,I take it you have affirmed Surrey offer like Sara? I have just affirmed mine by withdrawing from two other unis which invited me for interviews in Jan . Thanx for the heads up guys.Surrey was always my first choice anyways. What did u guys think about the student nurses who were keeping potential student nurses (us)company at the interviews?
i thought they were amazing, especially the third year student, she really, really sold Surrey Uni well,I must say,she helped me decide to choose Surrey. Tina

Hi, yes i have fully accepted the offer now and thats good to here you have accepted Surrey fully. I also did that with 3 other uni's and oxfordbrookes who gave me an offer too. I prefer surrey as it is a nice uni. Your welcome  I think they were really lovely esp Elly which was my student nurse during my interview she as well had a lot of potential and commitment to the course.

Oh okay and hmm yes that may come in useful, did not think about that, thanks

You are welcome Florence. I forgot to mention a stethoscope too. The idea is to practice using these instruments prior to placements so that u r good and ready by the time placements begin. Obviously, they will teach us during placements but I think it's gud to stand out from the onset( especially as most student nurses get job offers from their place of placements😊

Hi guys. It's so exciting to meet future nursing students on my course. I have an unconditional offer at Surrey. This is my second degree, as I previously studied languages. I'm hoping to live at home in Woking as I lived on campus before for my first degree.

I'm not exactly sure what to specialise in yet, but think the placements will be useful to help me work out suits me.

Have you received any information yet from Surrey? I've not heard anything since I received my offer. On SITS it says they want me to upload my education certificates, but I brought these in already for the interview so a bit confused.

Would love to know if you two have heard more, eg when we start exactly.

Also I'm Sarah. Do you reckon we should make a Facebook group for this? I know other years have. Like University of Surrey February 2015 Adult Nursing group or something.

Hey Sara n Florence, how r u guys doing? Am so looking forward to Uni but kind of nervous about placements😮
Anyways,so during the nursing course presentation at Surrey on selection day, do you guys remember what was said about when we will start placements? Only, I thot Zi heard them say placements start in the second year. Did u guys also get this information or was I mistaken?

Hi Tina,

I remember they said we don't start placements till after 8 months. So not for a while.

I really liked the student nurses at my interview day. They definitely helped clinch it, although liked Surrey a lot before.

I'm hoping to get some things to prepare for Christmas, maybe some stethoscope and a nurses watch etc.

Can't wait. Just looking forward to getting more info on the course. Like books and module info to help us prepare.

Hey guys, sorry haven't really been replying getting caught up with work as its the busy period now :frown: but other than that I'm all good thanks  how are you all?

Yeah with the placement I'm not really sure as I've got diff dates in my head coz when i had my surrey interview i had an oxfordbrookes interview the next day lol so i've lost info but i think from what i can remember we would be doing placements around this month i think I'm not really sure.

I think we're all waiting haha. I called before and they said we won't really hear from them at least 6 weeks b4 the course date starts so maybe after xmas or jan will start hearing from them like getting all the welcome pack and so

Take care guys

I take it u work in retail ,seeing that u r busy around this time? So will you continue working wen Uni starts?

Yeah, you r rite, I think at the moment they r still busy with recruiting more students.
Florence and Sara(hey Sara, how r u?) I was wondering if by any chance you could forward to me the DBS form as I still have my heard from them regarding that ( I already have the occupational health one)
My email address is [email protected].

So, Sara, r u also currently working? Will be working while studying?

Hey

That's gd to know. Actually I work at the odeon in greenwich so you can imagine how busy it is with all the new films like the hobbit coming out as well as half term. It really depends if I can juggle it with uni and also If I am successful fr an accommodation on campus as it is quite a travel for me to get to uni.

It should be with your email? There is a link to where you should click. As you have the occupational health form the DBS should also be in the email but yeah sure I will email you it

Hi Tina,

Yeah I only applied to Surrey. That was the only uni I wanted to go to.

So it's definitely Surrey that said placements after 8 months.

I didn't get anything about DBS either in the email. It was just occupational health check stuff.

I found some great info on facebook. Check it out. This group is good. https://www.facebook.com/groups/NurseSocSurrey/?fref=ts

I also made this one for us. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1593379437544400/?ref=ts&fref=ts

Hi Tina,

I'm also working. Busy at the mo in retail but only Christmas temp then hoping to get another part time job when I know the 2 days we'll be on campus for uni.

I'm gonna try part time working for the first year and see how it goes. I can just about survive without, but probably need to get a job if I can.

You 2 got healthcare experience? I was thinking of trying working in a care home part time. I know someone who has done the adult nursing course at surrey and they said a lot of people do part time jobs especially in care homes etc.

Hey Sara, thanx a million ,for the email, once again! I can sort that out sooner than later, phewww!
The fb page is a fab idea, useful links alrite😬... I ve just joined the page.

Rite, Odeon, I can imagine how crazy it is this time of year!
I see, I read a thread from another Surrey Uni student who said that a number of first years who had uni accommodation were either looking to move out or had moved out because apparently, they only had lessons for 2/3 days a week and so, they felt that they were spending unnecessarily on accommodation at uni. They went to say that the uni accommodation came in handy during placements tho.

So it's after 8 months b4 placements then, enuf time to get used to working on them SIMs dolls..lol.

Yes, my mate worked 2 nites in the hospital where she had first placement whilst studying n the pay was gud . It wud be gud for u to get that care work experience on yo cv for job hunting in future.

I have about 4 yrs of experience in care sector. Am a support worker.
Have a gud day
Tina.

Hey Florence, u ok? I cud email u link for DBS like Sara did me.

Hi Tina,

It's 2 days. They told me that at the interview. Unless they change it but I don't think they will. They said they do it in 2 long days 9-5 I guess to pack everything in so students can get part time jobs if they need to or for students with kids etc.

Can't wait to find out which days. Hopefully Monday and Tuesday. I think it was Mon and Tuesday before. It's probably not a Wednesday as they're half days at uni for time for sports in the afternoons.

Thanks for joining the group.

Oh wow, I knew there was a huge reason why I love Surrey Uni, 2 days!!!!😁😁😁😁...lol
Oh wow,Wednesday is half day to allow for sports !
Ye,Mon and Tue wud be gud then the rest of the week to ourselves.

Btw did you guys also do the multiple mini interview style at Surrey Uni or were u assessed using the traditional style type of interview?
I think,I was in the first group to be assessed using the multiple mini interview style.

Also, Sara, did u have to pay for yo go to complete their section of the occupational health form? Mine say it's £25! Moreover, I was told that, Hepatitis B vaccines cost £125! I sure hope I can get the vaccine cheaper thru the uni😔
Do u guys know anything about the hep b jabs being done cheaper via uni connection?
