UCAS Reference question?

I'm applying for uni after 2 years out of education and want one of my old teachers to be my referee. I've asked him and he's happy to do it but if I choose the "Ask a registered school, college etc. to write your reference" option will it definitely be him who writes the reference for me? or just be handed to my old form tutor?

Basically I'm asking if anyone knows much about how getting a reference as an independent candidate works.

Any help will be much appreciated

I sent an independent application but I don't recall seeing a box that said "ask a registered school, college etc. to write your reference". There was an area to fill in the details of a referee, I just put my teacher's name, work email and the school address. Why can't you just do that?

It's in the options section not the reference section. The way you did it was what I was thinking of doing anyway but the video to help says if you're getting a reference from your old school to do it by selecting the other option.

I'll just do it the way you say it seems the easiest.
