According to the leaflet if you start on the first day of your cycle you are protected immediately so I think it should be fine but now I am worried.

Its fine, so long as you're taking it correctly
ok, thanks. I've been taking it correctly (once a day at the same time). I think I'm just worried because i'm not used to sex without a condom and I keep hearing things of failed contraception. Also on the leaflet it said that 2-5 days after the start of the period other forms of contraception must be used for the first 7 days - the time-window just seems really small.
