Ability to study Medicine

How do you know you have the ability to study medicine. I have a real passion for science and like a challenge. Although I'm worried that I'll instantly get rejected because it is so very competitive. I feel somewhat not good enough?
Depends on your grades, UKCAT/BMAT , personal statement etc lots of things.

People as old as 50 can study medicine, it's not particularly hard, just a lot of work and good time management.
