You shouldn't be worried... I had BBCC at AS when I applied and got all 6 offers:

Manchester: AAA
Liverpool: AAB
Sheffield: AAB
Leicester: AAB
Lancaster: AAB
Keele (law with business admin- drop business in last yr and u dont have to do a conversion!)- 320 points.

I didn't do LNAT either. My teacher wrote how I was going to do some resits in my reference, and didn't mention UMS. After resits and A2s I had my AAB and got into Liverpool, it's great! So basically, don't worry too much, you shouldn't have a problem. xx

That may be because they have started including more criteria in the rankings. OR it may be because the rankings are *******s anyway.

indeed, it also only slipped in the past year so not sure about the 'slipped and slipped' comment. Its still widely regarded as third best by most academics. You must have visited quite a while back because right now, the lecture hall seems fairly new, the Library has excellent facilities, the law library is specialised, has 60 odd computers, 4 massive photocopiers and thousands of articles, both online and in the library. At the same time the building of places like Butler college, provide brand new accomodation (en suite, single rooms with a kitchen shared between six) with all the traditional links.
When I visited durham it was the uni which least impressed me (this was in late 2003 I think) I thought it didn't have a nice atmosphere and alot of the uni seemed quite run down. I agree with the observations above... but tbh the library isn't something I chose my unis on.

the point about the library was in response to the comment it was crap. I cant comment as to how Durham was in 2003 and admittedly, even today its not something for everyone, but no place is. Personally, ive found it to be welcoming, most of the lecturers to be excellent and best of all, the workload doesnt seem to be as heavy as the onus remain on individual work rather than being forced to attend group sessions. It has recently undergone a lot of redevelopment, a major choice in coing here for me, was the brand new college and its buildings. I couldnt imagine being anywhere else, but then everyone has different tastes.
I'm not aware of many unis which get you to do grp work although they may well exist, mine is all individual (unless you mean tutorials which are groups talking to a tutor, but they hardly count as "group work" since the prep is individual.
I can imagine that the buildings have improved since July 2004 which was when I visited it on an open-day. The lecture theatre (at least the one we were in) wasn't that bad. The library seemed really gloomy (bad lighting) and everything was really dark. I'm not saying that everything should be more colourful but at least the lighting could be made better, it felt like a prison except without the imprisonment.
The law society buildings were pretty run-down as well and they smelled terrible.
But I appreciate that all of this could have been improved over the last few years.
That's the exact stuff I was referring to, cheers super.

I hated the fact you have to walk everywhere and its so hilly, and theres cobbles on the roads so I can hardly walk around in heels  Then again I wont get an offer

Very true. In fact that is one of the reasons that my memory of visiting Durham in July 2004 is so distinct compared to that of other universities that I visited.
The walk from the lecture theatre where we initally congregated to the library and law society building was exactly hilly and on cobbles (lots of lovely ladies falling over).
Gave you the perfect chance to use your gentlemanly act of "assistance", dodgy sub-motives of course.

When I visited Durham the only things I really liked were the castle and the posh totty, countryside doesn't really suit me though.

how outdated of you

countryside doesn't really suit me though.

it's a city
Reply 33
Yeah maybe, but its not a proper city, its not like london or manchester. It's a city in the sense that Cambridge is a city, but really Cambridge is just like a country town.

And why's that outdated? Everyone likes castles and posh totty

a) castles = just an old building that was designed to be defended
b) posh totty = irrelevant. you can't say everyone likes them because not everyone is a perv who demeans people.

And that's a reason not to like them because?
