Well normally people do at least 9 GCSE's and then do 4 AS Levels and 3 A2 Levels. But i dont really know much about the exceptions. Good luck anyway

Yeah, most good unis are looking for a minimum of 9 GCSEs (taken in yr 11), 4 AS levels (year 12) and 3 A levels (year 13)...

many people have more than this - I'd guess at the top end people do 12 GCSEs, 6 AS levels and 5 A levels (not saying they're more clever or anything, just that that's probably the max. that its still considered fairly "normal" to do.
You need at least 3 A-levels for the vast majority of universities and the top ones will expext you to have taken a 4th AS level as well. GCSEs don't matter so much as long as you have 5 including English and maths, but most people have about 10.

Most people have 9 GCSEs - dosnt matter really about the grades as long as they meet the min requirements...
contrary to popular TSR belife a vast majority of people take 3As and 3 A2...the top end unis - most applicants will have 4As and 3A2...
Even so, offers are given based on 3A2s.
Therefore it is in your intrest to do 3A2s well rather then stretch yourself and get 4 average grades.

Good Luck
