Hi everyone.
I have been on the Trusts website but its a bit hard to navigate through it.
Would anyone be able to tell me what they specialise in as a Trust and what St Thomas specialises in more specifically.

Thanks in advance.

It's a large teaching hospital - therefore there are specialists there for pretty much everything (bar neurosurgery), so there isn't anything they 'specialise' in per se. The stuff that they offer that less hospitals do however, includes cardiothoracics, renal (mostly at Guy's) medicine/transplant surgery, a huge dermatology unit, ENT/skull base surgery/head and neck surgery and loads of paediatric stuff at the Evelina Children's hospital which is attached - such as paediatric cardiology, cardiothoracics, intensive care, renal medicine etc etc.

is there anything in particular that makes them stand out (for example, anything that would make the medical news?) or do you think its just because of their location?
Kings hospital is also included in gkt. I heard when volunteering that the hospital is well known for their liver unit and people fly in from all over the world to use their services.

No they're two different trusts.

GSTT is Guys and St Thomas' which is one acute care trust. Kings is a completely different one. The liver unit is at Kings, not at GSTT.

GKT is the medical school which runs out of Kings College London.

Pretty much anything - especially what Mushi_master mentioned. The Evelina is essentially the equivalent of Great Ormond Street south of the river. The renal unit at Guy's is massive and is quite innovative. But in all honesty, it is a large teaching hospital so most (if not all) of its departments will be quite innovative and leading edge with many newsworthy items.
I'm sure if you visit the 'News' section of their website (they'll definitely have one) or their social media pages (will defo have these too) you'll find them conveniently sharing lots of recent stories that big themselves up, or where their staff/departments/research/patients have made appearances or mentions in other media...
