USA and UK

Is it possible to apply to universities in both the U.S. and the UK?

If so are there many problems it might cause?

Not really, though US applications can be really time consuming.

It'll definitely be a hassle as the US application process is tedious and difficult. But you should also take into consideration that both university processes are very different and require different things - e.g. unis in the UK require you to demonstrate interest in your intended major/career (extra reading, internships, work experience etc) where as unis in the US just want you to demonstrate interest in anything that interests you and to take part in things out of school (could be sports, the arts, academics etc +leadership positions etc), require awards etc, UK - personal statement is geared towards your intended major where as US application essays are the complete opposite in that your asked to write about experiences, your interest in the colleges (i.e. non academic mostly). So as you can see, they require pretty different things from you.

If you apply to both, you will be twice as stressed. You will have to keep an eye on all the additional deadlines and documents. I'm assuming you are still in school and about to finish your studies, you will have more than enough on your plate. You can do it but you are going to have to manage your time very well.
