If the redness is thin lines (classic bloodshot), use hydrating eyedrops such as Visine, and they should reduce the redness. If you regularly wear contact lenses, avoid them if possible, as they constrict air flow to the eye. If visine does not help, consider seeing an optician.

If the redness is thick blotches, you have burst a blood vessle in your eye. It will heal, but I do not think there is any way to hasten the healing aside from, as said before, avoiding contact lenses.

Or smoke more to make the other eye red.
yeah it might be conjunctivitus like sum1 else said. Dont touch anyone, its really contagious. My dad got it from shaking hands with someone once.

Don't wear any make up for a while.
It'll only be proper conjuntivitis if the eye is all sticky, otherwise maybe it's acute.
Avoid eyeliner and mascara, and try and get hold of some moisturising eye drops. If you have time, have a power-nap to rest the eye!

There is actually a bar in Aberdeen that serves you cheap drink if you are either a pirate or a student. The drink is even cheaper if you are a pirate student (or a student pirate?)
