Happy to answer questions about University of Sheffield and Biomedical Science :)

I've just finished my first semester at University of Sheffield for Biomedical Science. I remember when picking my uni that I wished someone could have answered my questions no matter how stupid so I though I would offer.

i have applied for biomedical science this yr and was wondering what can you do apart from grad entry medicine

I was wondering if their was something a bit out of the ordinary like options to go into finance accounting banking etc. in the future

There are lots of routes. Yeah Lab is the most obvious but you will likely specialise into heamotology or biochemistry. Research and Pharmeceutical companies also have non lab work to consider though including reps and 'desk jobs'. I haven't really decided a career if I'm honest but the one thing they told us during freshers was that Biomedical Science is a broad course that gives you valuable skills that can apply to any job. The example they gave was someone going into accounting from their course. Your not limiting yourself to science at all. Just showing your potential employer you have the dedication to get yourself a good degree.

Hi I am an offer holder for Biomedical Science at Sheffield. I am torn between Southampton and Sheffield to put as my firm choice.
Are there any optional modules on the course and are the modules broad?
Are the lectures interesting?
Is the university/town nice as I wont be able to visit- is it easy to get from one place to another?
Sorry for questions just cant make my mind up!!!
