I am hoping to study mechanical engineering with sustainable energy systems at Southampton so i am planning to go down a similar career path to you. Having researched on the internet, talked to employees at BP and asked at universities I have discovered that there will be a huge demand (and actually there is at the moment) for engineers specialising in renewable energy. There is also a demand for electrical engineers full stop, and so you will probably be the most in demand graduate in the country when you leave!
