Collingwood, like it or love it?

Our college song is lovely if we knew the tune to it! "If I could plant a tiny seed of love in the garden of your heart, would you tend for it and let it grow."

Obviously whoever wrote it had been reading a bit too much Romantic poetry!

That is absolutely rubbish as a college song, it's all about Sloop John B...

I'm not saying it's great but Sloop John B is a traditional song, it is not that distinct to Hatfield as "If I could plant..." therefore, you can get drunk rugby players and policemen singing it.

I think the Byrds also released a cover of Sloop John B.

Apparently I'm going to the charity challenge match tomorrow. Damn rugby.... damn charity....

Didn't enjoy the match myself, I'm not rugby fan. It was all about cheer-off, really.

i wish john's had a song :frown:

we are crap.

we were all very sad at the NUS protest march thing cos durham didnt have a song as a whole and all the other unis were singing theirs. so we sang the hatfield/pope one :biggrin:

... everyone else was like wtf? but we enjoyed it. quite sad that that's the most well known durham song tho :p:

Hild Bede don't have a song, either. I'm not that bothered, really, but I do think it'd be good if Durham as a whole had one. I'm going to make it my task to WRITE ONE. :biggrin:

Yep you're right there Becca. For a fleeting minute I had the Beach Boys confused with the Byrds for some reason. I obviously forgot that the previous week I had sung "Surfin' USA" with a Californian friend at karaoke! :smile:

Kathryn, I'm shocked you haven't been into Collingwood in three years in Durham. I'm going to email the DSU and get them to schedule a meeting there. :wink:
