Another incredible trailer with new footage from one of the biggest action films of 2015!

When the last trailer was released this movie almost overtook Age of Ultron as my most anticipated of 2015. If AoU hadn't come out last week if would have been overtaken by this. I love the aesthetic, it looks gloriously shot, the soundtrack we've heard so far is incredible, and it just looks like tons of fun that's going to be unashamedly adult. I can't freaking wait.
Vin Diesel's next film after the astounding success of Furious 7.

It looks fairly generic, but the trailer isn't terrible and it's got a cracking cast, so I'm optimistic! God knows we need another decent Medievil-turns-modern fantasy/horror after the Underworld series started tanking, the genre's been a mess since.

The poster is pretty cool too.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned its a literal clone of Constantine, with a little bit of Blade thrown in for good measure.

I haven't seen Constantine yet, from the synopsis it does sound very similar.

Ugh now you've reminded me of Blade Trinity, if any film killed a piece of my childhood it's that one. They were never particularly good but my cousin and I watched the original Blade dozens of times when we were 8 year olds, and it seemed pretty awesome at the time.

Thinking about it, has there been any really good movies in this vein of modern day monster/vampire/witch hunter story? I'm struggling to think of any that elevate beyond being guilty pleasures.
Trust me it is, even down to the token female sidekick.

Blade Trinity isn't completely awful, if only for the fact that Ryan Reynolds is awesome in it. The original Blade arguably kickstarted gritty comic book movies, and is really quite special. It didn't completely destroy the series, but it was certainly a step down, similar to how the original Resident Evil and original Underworld are grittier and superior to their followups.

I know what you mean, most are guilty pleasures, if not exactly masterpieces. Maybe Hellboy? I also think Supernatural (TV Show) is incredible for what it's worth, especially in the first few seasons where they focused more on monster hunter, and less than an underlying story arc.
The magnificent Tom Hardy bringing the Kray Twins to life in the appropriately-titled Legend

Yeah it wasn't the worst the thing ever, but it was pretty poor and having adored the first two as a child it really sucked to see what they'd done to the series (you're right about Reynolds though, definitely the high point of the movie. Same goes for Underworld, my best friend and I bonded over the first one in the series and I still kinda enjoyed the prequel, but Awakening was awful. Here's hoping the upcoming sequels (the next was pegged for a 2015 release but I've heard nothing since the original announcement) can claw back some of what made the first film enjoyable, although I won't hold my breath.

Hellboy does sorta fit, and is definitely a good example of the genre- I forgot how much I enjoyed those movies :yep:
This film looks pretty funny!

It's a TV show not a movie, but I just saw the new Supergirl trailer and it looks horrific.
This looks good

I like the idea, but Adam Sandler made it so there's not a chance in hell I'll even use my Unlimited card to see it until reviews come out :ahee:
Ah that's a shame. I'm not really considering this film a priority to watch but I wouldn't mind seeing it if I had an Unlimited card like you, haha. As long as it's not boring like some of Sandler's previous efforts, I think Pixels might be pretty decent.

Boring is a kind way of describing some of his recent productions, have you seen Jack and Jill? :lolwut:

Nope, he's lost the benefit of the doubt with me now! I don't mind coming out disappointed of a film if I don't know what I was expecting when I went in, but if I predict it's terrible and it ends up bring terrible I'd be annoyed I'd wasted those 2 hours. If it gets good reviews I'll happily see it, but I won't touch with a barge pole until then :yep:
