First year English reading list?

Due to health reasons, I have had to defer my place at Keele Uni to 2015 entry. I really did look forward to enrolling at Keele Uni in September 2014 but taking an unexpected gap year was probably the best. However, I don't want this year to be wasted so if anyone could let me know what the current reading list for a first year student studying English is then I would be very grateful!

Thanks! 😽
For the core English modules:
READING LITERATURE SEM1
The Merchant of Venice
Oroonoko (Behn)
The Island (Byron)
~a selection of Tennyson poems~
Wuthering Heights (Brontë)
The Measures Taken (Brecht)
The Island (Fugard)
The English Patient (Ondaatje)

The other English-y electives include a Poetry-writing (and analysis) course, an Intro to American Lit., and an Intro to Narrative Fiction.

American Lit.:
Rip Van Winkle
The Fall of the House of Usher
Bartleby
Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass
The Yellow Wall-Paper
The Day of the Locust
Naked Lunch (excerpt)
The Things They Carried

Narrative Fiction:
Moll Flanders
Cousin Phillis
Mrs Dalloway
The Hours

Those last three are ones you can take as electives, but there are plenty of other electives across film, politics, history and other subjects that you could pick too

That is just stuff for semester one, but you won't want to read into semester two just yet because of Xmas/Jan assessments/exams. Let me know if you have other questions
