Russell group vs other

This is directed more at people already at a Russell group uni, if you go to a higher level uni such as Oxford or Cambridge and do the a course which is also on offer to a BBB uni is it harder or easier to get a 2:1/first?

I'm at a Russell Group Uni and I think it's pretty well know that, although the grade boundaries are the same, a 2:1 from say Oxford is more valuable - academicaly - than a 2:1 from Liverpool, say. It wouldn't be easier to get a 2:1 or first, if anything and most probably it'll be harder.
