Small question about measuring resistance!!

If I were to use a multimeter with the ranges of 200k ohms and 2M ohms, and I was trying to measure a resistor of 200k ohms, which range would I use? 200k ohms or 2M ohms? please help!

resistors have a tolerance which is printed on the side or indicated by one of the coloured stripes. e.g. if the tolerance is 5% the actual value could be anywhere between 190k and 210k.

if it's actual value is over 200k then the 200k range on your DVM won't work.
