Why do some people LOVE to call others "weird"?

Even at uni or at work, I met so many people (esp. girls, or the sort of people who "make faces" and roll their eyes and are generally passive aggressive) who loved to label things/people "weird." Usually perfectly normal things/people that just weren't what they were used to. I didn't really get called that but it is annoying even hearing a lot of other things be called that.

Why are some people obsessed with the concept? It gets a bit pathetic when you hear a 23 something graduate supposed to be working full time gossiping about how something is "weird."
Stigma.
It was once a "defence mechanism", essential for survival.
Now it's one of the worst things to have in your life.

You mean people calling you that or the silly attitude?

Insufficient vocabulary to express their view? A lack of imagination? An absence of empathy? Peer pressure making them feel a need to demonstrate they're as thick as the rest of the gang? A lazy way to score points and feel better about oneself by putting down someone else in a casual way?
They are probably insecure themselves? People have called them "weird" in the past?

Any word might seem to get to be worn out for overuse. The certain word that is uttered must still be wired with the given thought; if not, this would reflect a merely non-caring, indefinite, response, which even upon frequent usage, could turn to be handled collectively and indefinitely.
Because we are in a deeply conformist era.
