anyone else ridiculously excited for fifty shades of grey?!

I have read all three Fifty shades of grey book and i must say they are the best books i have ever read. Most people say 'Ugh why you reading porn' but its not. It's a romance story.

I honestly cant wait for the film, the actors playing the characters are a perfect fit. Though the film wont be as good as the book (it never is). I cant wait to see how they're going to portray it.

I'd say more intrigued than excited, but this is coming from someone who has only read a little part of the first book.
If that is one of the best books you have ever read then clearly you do not read that often.

I read all the books when they came out, needless to say the films will be a massive disappointment, it is very rare that they match up to the books. Take Twilight, no way did it compare to the books.

My Sisters Keeper is another, in the film a different sister dies!

BTW I loved fifty shades, and I will watch the film and moan about how crap it is LOL
Sir Salman Rushdie said about the book: "I've never read anything so badly written that got published. It made Twilight look like War and Peace." Maureen Dowd described the book in The New York Times as being written "like a Bronte devoid of talent," and said it was "dull and poorly written." Jesse Kornbluth of The Huffington Post said: "As a reading experience, Fifty Shades...is a sad joke, puny of plot".

A pretty damning verdict and considering books tend to be better than the film, the film probably won't be winning many awards. If it makes you feel better you can call it a love story, but it's basically just socially acceptable BDSM and the glorification of an abusive relationship.

I won't be watching.

No, I can't say that I am.

I kind of liked the first book, but it went downhill from there, and the third one was pretty abysmal to me.

Twilight compared to the books very strongly, in that they are both utter garbage and not worth the paper/film they are printed on. 50 Shades of Grey is a very similar case.

I do hope they include some of the quotes from the book though. Given that the book is written so badly, they could legitimately attempt to pass it off as a comedy.

It's not romance, it's fu**ing BDSM and psychological issues crap.
Read a good book, please. One of the best???? WT actual F?????
I couldn't finish the first book, even if I was passing the... kinky stuff... it's just soooo bad :frown:(( and I read a lot of romance bestseller crap, I guess this was tooooo much weird for me...
Anyways, it's your taste. And I get why people love it. It's filled with sex scenes and there's a rich hot bachelor and an innocent virgin in it, duh...
Gotta say, I do want to go to see the movie. But mostly because everyone wants to and all this hysteria just kinda stuck with me... plus it's two hot people having kinky sex, I mean I think it's gonna be good.
The soundtrack should be good too.

P.S.: If you like those books so much, check out Crossfire :colone: I actually think it's better, not that I read more than 20% of the first book - as I said, I pass the kinky stuff...

In YOUR opinion of course, at no point did I say they were literary classics just because I and millions of others enjoyed them.

Anyway if they are such garbage how come you managed to read four twilight, three 50 Shades and watch several films. Didn't you feel inclined to put the first book down after the first chapter?
Personally I think it glamorises abusive relationships..So it's a no from me.

As it seems you are at the very least suspicious of, I have not read the entirety of any of them or sat through the entirety of the films. Next, you will attempt to discredit my opinion by saying that it is not worthwhile given that I have not done the entirety of all of these things. Given the large-scale existence of samples, trailers, demos and similar phenomena it is fairly obvious that in fact this is meaningless and that most sensible consumers will try things in part and once it is apparent that they dislike it, stop. This is my case; I have read and seen enough to form a coherent opinion on the topic.

However this is almost skipping across what I said; the books are appallingly written. This is not something you need to read the entire book to be aware of and I did in fact leave an article containing a list of ridiculous quotes from 50 Shades of Grey which I find it difficult to believe any of the millions of readers can really coherently defend as good writing.
I may attempt to discredit your opinion, but I won't because I said at the beginning "in YOUR opinion", you quoted me, which is personally attacking what I wrote without any justification.

People like you are a pain on TSR with your ****ty superior attitudes and disrespect for any one else's opinion. You should have made the above post independently and not as a quote.

You clearly like trolling to cause a reaction. Anyway, I grow bored easily and I am not only bored of this thread but I am bored of you. Feel free to respond with chapter and verse in response, I won't read it because I have "read enough to form a coherent opinion" on you, and have therefore put this page down.

I don't know if I'm excited...But I don't have high hopes for the movie. I like the actor playing Christian but I picture a much larger guy....Also I feel that they won't be able to really depict the BDSM scenes to the degree that they were described in the book, so what's the point then really?

Nope.
No. Maybe if it had a better cast.

I feel the same, I really hope the film doesn't completely ruin it but it is one of my most favourite romance stories
