School Direct Trainees 2015 *those who have accepted an offer* :)

After months of waiting I have finally found where my main placement school is for my SCITT 😁😁😁 just waiting for info on start date now. Any one else still waiting or is it just me? I'm starting to feel a bit worried now 😔

I'm on the salaried route, so it might be different, but as far as I know we start the 1st of September and the kids come in the 7th, I believe, but that would be down to your local authority. Enrolment for me begins the last week in August, but that's with the University my route is connected to as far as I know.

I assume the difference with SCITT and SDS is that we apply to the schools we want to work with so we already know our placement school from the beginning.

I found out the other week that we have 3 induction days at our lead school, followed by the start of our main placement school on the first Monday of September. Don't be worried, they'll let you know in time Do you have an induction at some point before the summer hols? Maybe they will let you know then...

That sounds similar to a lot of people I know who are also doing SD. I've looked to see when the term dates for my LA which are the same as yours but still waiting for official confirmation.

I don't know anything about induction dates, if we are even having one 😳 I email my placement school asking for a start date as I'm in a FT job, need to hand in resignation, book time off for hols etc and they said they are still deciding! Lots of ppl I know have attended inductions or been invited to one and I'm just waiting like...😳 I'm stressing out now. Any advice on how I can make them share info any sooner? Lol xx

Hello! I've just found this thread! I have been accepted on The Pilgrim Partnership Early Years Schools Direct (3-7)! I'm really excited (sad I know!) I have applied for teacher training for 3 years and been rejected by Hertfordshire university every time, by chance was driving past a local school and saw the sign for schools direct (I had never heard of it before) applied and was accepted

I have a 2:2 in Education Studies, 6 months experience as a TA in Reception / Nursery, 6 months experience as a room leader in a 2-3 room.

I am mummy to an almost 3 year old little boy and step mummy to a 5 year old boy!

What information have you been given so far? We haven't been given anything yet and panicking a bit! There is a meet the other students and teachers evening on 8th July so hoping that will give me some more info!

I asked about a reading list and was told there isn't one so I'm rather confused! Do you know what percentage you will be teaching?

I'm trying to sort out my folder of information to keep to hand so far I have got.....

Don't stress about it, because you seriously can't do anything about it - that's the mantra I live my life by: If I can't change it, I don't worry about it, if I can change it, I do! Trust me, I know how hard that is, so I use A LOT of distraction techniques

They don't have that long left to decide, really, so they should be in touch fairly soon. But in the meantime, have you done any reading towards useful topics? I've been reading books on behaviour management, the teaching practices and theories of the core subjects, and when I finish the current books, I'll be tackling my non-core subject knowledge head on! Keeps me busy, will hopefully make my next year a little bit easier, and gives me something to think about when I'm not working!

Wow you sound so organised! I need to get my butt into gear thought I was organised with all my stationary sorted and books pulled up ready to read. I currently work in FE with SEN students so have knowledge that I'm hoping will be helpful.you mush be very excited to start the course now!

Yes definitely I graduated in 2010 so feels so long ago! (I did redo a module in 2013) been rejected so many times too so want to make sure I do well!

I'm really interested in SEN, my step son has Aspergers (well all involved - us, school and counsellor think so we are going through CAMHS atm taken so long to get an appointment!) really think it should be compulsary to do something as a teacher. For 6 months step son was excluded from class, sent out for being "naughty", had class time taken away etc. We kept saying something wasn't right but the teacher wouldn't listen, we took him ourselves to a private counsellor and now we are going through camhs it took us going to a counsellor to get the SENCO involved and finally have school backing.

Sorry turned into a bit of a rant haha!

Still feels like so long away though and my job at the moment is so boring but pays well just frustrating! X
