What does everyone think of the number of hours of exams?

I've seen the German one, and from what I can see, they've taken the bits from Edexcel that they like, and put bells on it.

Personally, I'm against the idea because it'll create a two-teired exam system - one for private schools and one for state, and I don't think that's right. It's already beginning to happen with IGCSEs and GCSEs...

Cambridge Pre-U
CIE considers it important to ensure
access for its qualifications. In the UK
this means making sure that students
in both the maintained and independent
sector can enter for Cambridge Pre-U.
The first step in gaining such
recognition is via an approach to the
UK’s Qualifications and Curriculum
Authority (QCA). An initial meeting has
been held with QCA staff who were
extremely helpful in this matter.
Work will continue in gaining full
accreditation so that Cambridge Pre-U
can be offered in both maintained and
independent schools in the UK as well
as CIE’s international constituency.

That's all very well, but (appart from grammar schools), I can't imagine any maintained school wanting to use the Pre U sylabus - the step up from GCSE is just too big, and A Levels are, to be honest, easier.
