Hey everyone
Couldn't find a thread for this anywhere, so decided to make one!
Who else is sitting this exam?

I'm a grad. I work in a 6th form college, tutoring small groups of A-level Maths/Physics students.

Anything in particular you're having trouble with at the moment?

Ah I see! Well I just had my mocks and they went decently, so not just yet.
But we're starting astrophysics and particle physics, so I have a feeling I'm going to have to post here quite often soon :'(

Try not to get too bogged down with the particle physics. Once you've got used to the terminology it's not too bad. Don't expect to really understand it at this stage. You'll get the proper story if you're doing anything physicsy when you go to uni.

Astrophysics is Unit 5. I've not looked at the Astro content for A2 yet. The last time I did any Astrophysics was 2007, in the first year of my degree. Looks like i'll have a busy half term revising, haha.
The exam code for this is 6PH04 isn't it...? :beard:

I guess you should go for the newest one available  I can check which one I have but it does have some mistakes in it so I would assume the more recent the edition the more fewer the mistakes it would contain

Just joined- I'm doing this exam too- is there a Unit 5 thread as well?
I've found this- it has a unit 4 pack with loads of questions from old past papers:
https://www.scribd.com/collections/2825695/EXCELLENT-Physics-Edexcel-Unit-1-2-3-4-5-loads-of-Questions-All-questions-available

There's a unit 5 pack as well but it seems to have random questions from units 1/2/3 mixed in as well...if anyone finds one with just unit 5 q's that'd be great!!

+1 for 'Practice in Physics'.

Arguably the best (only?) A-level text that focuses purely on problem solving.

There's very little theory in there, but there's absolutely tons of decent questions. Different style to A-level exam questions, but plenty there to practice with.

There's another one, called 'Calculations for A-level Physics' which is (apparently) a decent book (Amazon reviews are good, I have no real experience with this book) - but may not be the best bet for the Edexcel exams, which look to be more 'wordy' than other exam boards.
is there any tips you can give me to do with exam techniques and stuff?
