so is anyone else is going to homie for serious subjects?
Reply 85
I regard my subject as serious as do most on here. Mine is Oriental Studies
Reply 86
well i meant did anyone else get in apart from education studies or anything involved with it?
Reply 87
I hope social political science counts as 'serious' subject. However, i have heard complaints that SPSers just sit around drinking all day whilst talking about Marx or Durkheim.

Congratulations on your offer!
Hope to be seeing you next year if I make the grades! (AAA for biological sciences with education)

Yes, I agree

I've heard that Economics at Cambridge has, in terms of academic rigor, quite a bit in common with a Media Studies BA.

on a less made-up topic, anyone know how likely Homerton are to let you in if you miss the offer by a few marks. The FAQ seemed pretty positive but also quite vague.

so current homies, tell us, future homies, what is homie like? Is it true it has lots of hot girls, good social life, nice sport facilities. Is the rowing club one of the best at Homerton or something? Do you usually socialise with PGCE older students?

i applied to oxford.
i have no idea why, tbh.
I didn't even like the course.. and probably would have enjoyed NatSci more.

I hadn't actually LOOKED at the colleges in cambridge until about a week ago.
I fell in love with Homerton as soon as i saw it.

so i'm thinking of applying postgrad.
woop.

yep, i fell in love with that place as well. i went around couple of other colleges in town centre, like Sidney Sussex, Fitzwilliam(which is also a bit far out), Trinity. I didnt like them. Sidney didnt have nice accomodation and was small. Fitzwilliam seemed boring. Trinity too snobby and had lots of geeks.
Homerton seemed to be a place where I d rather spend my next 3 years. The only disadvantage is it is far out of town, but it has nice sport facilities, better more outgoing and very helpful people, better girls and much better accommodation.

btw when you go out to clubs and stuff, how do you get back home to homie? do you usually walk for 30 mins? or get a taxi?

It depends on the circumstances. Even if there were no extenuating circumstances in missing the offer by a few marks then I still think Homerton would allow it more than other colleges. Why? Because it is not as oversubscribed as the other colleges.

Has anyone noticed that on the whole of this 102 post Homerton thread: there is not even one current homie posting.

it is cambridge in the end of the day and it will oversubsribed. it is not like students are just allocated places. there is only a marginal difference between a person who gets and offer and the one who gets rejected. so it depends and depends what subject it is.

Was with my friend in Cam and I read the Varsity top 100 - these are the people who 'define Cambridge'.

Six were from Homerton, not too bad for a College which has only really been fully integrated into the university for 5 years or so.

Also, four of them were studying Education, maybe it is more serious than some think.
