How to choose a garage for MOT

I have to take my first car to its first MOT. What I'm concerned is about the garages deliberate failing the car or deliberate break something to try and force a repair with them.

I am taking my car in for a full service after the MOT anyway to a independent specialist (mainly beacuse they don't do Saab cars anymore). So the actual MOT is just a legal requirement / lip service.

And no, the indie place doesn't do MOT, or I would have just given the car to the guy who knew he would be servicing it and wouldn't be ripping me off.

Find a place that only does MOT tests. A good bet is to find the centre the local council uses to MOT its fleet vehicles. That way there's no incentive for them to fail your car.

I agree.
Also try asking round to see what places people you know would recommend.
