Do I need to submit UCAS application before Student Finance?

I was wondering whether I needed to complete and submit my UCAS form before applying for student finance?
Hi

I've moved this thread to the student financial support sub-forum as this is the best place to get advice about matters relating to student finance.

I'm not sure if there are any specific rules about applying to finance without submitting a UCAS form, but you should be aware that when you apply you will be asked to name the course you are planning to study (most people name their firm course). You can change your course later using a change of circumstances form, but this is a lot of extra hassle to go through if you don't have to. As such, it's pretty pointless applying before you have confirmed offers, which is normally only really done via UCAS, unless you are applying for a transfer into year 2 at another university (and even then it's best to get things confirmed via UCAS first).
