What does edexcel mean by this?

Hi i included you as i thought youd know about this

so i looked at some past paper, and one year said

June 2014 - C1
June 2014 (R) - C1

what does R mean? When i checked the papers, they were different and the R one was much harder. Which one will student get in their exams?

The R indicates the international paper

The R indicates the international paper
They were introduced because there were a series of breaches of security (abroad) which meant replacement of papers.

The grade boundaries are different.
